That would be a big overstatement and a ridiculous one at best. What we did learn is that this rebuild doesn’t have to be as bad as we all thought it would be. Make no mistake, this Rangers team has plenty of skill to get by. Just look at the pass from Filip Chytil to Jesper Fast from Thursday’s game. Not every player can make that kind of pass, and the Rangers have several players that are capable of doing so. Having that type of Lundqvist in net will allow the Rangers to stay in almost every game that he appears in this season.
New York returned home for practice on Sunday at the Garden, which underwent the third phase of a $1 billion renovation that kept the Rangers on the road for the first nine games of the season. With training camp set to begin later this week, the New York Rangers players attended the New York Giants home opener on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Milestones
For the Rangers, they saw big contributions from Lias Andersson and Pavel Buchnevich who look to take the next step in their young careers. Buchnevich looks to be a force on the Blueshirts’ top line, while Andersson is trying to live up to the hype of being a top-10 draft pick. Jesper Fast scored the Rangers first goal of the night off a great cycle from his linemates Filip Chytil and Ryan Spooner. More importantly, they will have a most familiar face protecting the net during their home opener on Monday against the Montreal Canadiens.
Rinne finished the game with 34 saves on 36 shots, while Lundqvist finished with 30 saves on 32 shots. A very-fast paced game, Nashville and New York swapped momentum throughout the contest. Much of the action was end-to-end and many scoring chances were squandered by excellent goal-tending. Not only is Chytil out there showing his skill, but you also have the Chris Kreider, Pavel Buchnevich, Kevin Hayes, Mika Zibanejad, and Ryan Spooner.

There is one great thing about the New York Giants home opener on Sunday. It means New York Rangers training camp is right around the corner. He has covered the Rangers for the last seven seasons and the Yankees for the last four.
During the final minutes of this one, the Rangers found themselves with a glorious chance to tie the game on the power play with the extra attacker, but there was just one problem. They too got called for a penalty, a penalty for having too many men on the ice. This was a game that saw both teams trade scoring opportunity after scoring opportunity. Rinne made 34 saves on the night, including four saves on Jimmy Vesey who was the Rangers best forward on the night.

Henrik Lundqvist will be back between the pipes after he sat out two games because of an undisclosed injury. The Rangers took advantage of a light week of games and gave Lundqvist time off to heal from his ailment. Forward Craig Smith is already fighting for another good year; he drove the second line and took six shots, the most out of the Predators.
The Rangers players know how the New York Giants feel as they also were coming off a poor season last year in which their team did not make the playoffs. Lundqvist looked like vintage Lundqvist in the opener stopping 30 shots against a Predators team that was on the attack. He bailed his team out facing a few odd-man rushes coming up with the big save when it mattered most. The only blemishes were two perfectly placed shots that he had no chance of stopping.
For the next week or two, the team will not face any of the pressures as a pro hockey player in New York. This is the first time all of these players have been together since the final game of the season in April, a loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. This was what should be many moments of team bonding as their uphill battle to make the playoffs begins.
If that keeps up and he scores goals like this, he can be an NHL center for a long time. Gallant said a lot of thought went into the Rangers naming six alternate captains, instead of stitching the “C” on the sweater of just one player. Five of the six players anointed to the Blueshirts’ leadership group are veterans of the team, while Goodrow earned the honor after less than three months with the organization. It was a positive first game for the Blueshirts who stayed with one of the best teams the NHL has to offer. This might be a rebuild, but if they can hang around with the teams the way they did tonight, this might not be so painful after all.
The schedule features 10 back-to-backs, including five road-road, four road-home and one home- road. Nashville's longest homestand is five games from Nov. 25-Dec. 3 and features contests against Anaheim, Colorado, Arizona, Chicago and Buffalo.
With the Rangers having the goaltender pulled and looking for the equalizer, Colton Sissons iced the game with an empty net goal in the neutral zone. The Rangers were unable to get control of the puck after an offensive zone faceoff, and the Predators quickly capitalized. This was a bit of a controversial goal for the Predators, and it came immediately after a missed call on a blatant high stick in front of the Rangers net. NEW YORK -- The New York Rangers are finally back in familiar surroundings at renovated Madison Square Garden. The Rangers take on the Avalanche at Madison Square Garden for their first home game of the season on Thursday, October 5th. Early in the second period, forward Filip Forsberg opened up the festivities with a wristshot that beat Lundqvist blocker side. Fast responded with a chip-in goal in front of Rinne later in the period. Subban slapped one by Lundqvist in the third period, and Colton Sissons buried an empty-netter with less than two minutes left in the third period. A Pavel Buchnevich tip-in was too little too late as Nashville sealed their first victory of the year.
Leading the Rangers, defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk put seven shots on goal. With players arriving in New York to begin camp, some of them took the short trip to East Rutherfurd to watch the G-Men take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Should Lundqvist keep up that type of game, the rebuild will not only get fast-tracked but, won’t be as brutal. He word rebuild is always a scary one when you play in New York.
